August Drama Activities

Bottle Drive Brings in $465.70
A big thank you to Jonathan Ferris for organizing and the following students for helping out on July 7th!
Jonathan, Sam, Nina, Jackie, Duncan, Lily B., Cora, Tess, Ben, Gwen, Emma, Meg S.

Tap Information: Tuesdays and Thursdays August 14,16,21,23 6:30 p.m.

The “pre-season” tap classes begin Tuesday August 14th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the main cafeteria near the stage. Bring water and don't forget to wear comfortable, cool clothing. It's likely to get hot (in more ways than one!) If you have tap shoes bring them, if you don't arrive 10-15 minutes early. I have about 15 pairs of shoes in assorted sizes and I'm happy to loan them for the classes. There are a variety of sizes, but they are mostly women's shoes. I think I have two or three pairs of men's. BRING SOCKS and prevent blisters! You can learn to tap without tap shoes, but it is definitely easier when you can hear the sounds. If you don't have tap shoes, try to find a pair of leather-soled shoes (not rubber). Borrow a pair if needed.

42nd Street at Maine State Music Theatre Wednesday Night August 22nd

If you signed up to attend the show AND paid for your ticket (see list below), please arrive at the front door of the high school at 6 p.m. on Wed. 8/22. We will carpool & caravan to the theatre [Bowdoin College campus in Brunswick]. We want to try to take as few cars as possible, because parking is at a premium in the area near the theatre. There will be adults and possibly some students driving. This is not a school trip, but if your parents do not allow you to drive with students, please respect that. You will know all the adults! Email me if you have any questions. anorthway@msad51.org The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and I suspect it will be finished about 10. We should be back at the school between 10:30 and 11 p.m. If your parents would like a ballpark figure. You should call them when we leave Brunswick so they can pick you up when we return. Tied to the Tracks

“Tied to the Tracks will leave you tied up in knots...  of laughter!  This action-packed old time musical western melodrama could be the most tuneful and wildest ever to hit your stage.  Join stalwart Sheriff Billy Bold and the delicate Dakota Melody as they resist the evil machinations of Silias Scavenger and Wild Prairie Rose in this shoot-'em-up, round-'em-up extravaganza.  The audience will be hitched to their seats as they are powerless in helping our beloved heroine, bound to a railway track, as she helplessly watches a locomotive race towards her.  Only one man can snatch her from this unworthy fate and bring justice to a thriving territory.”  Pioneer Drama Service

Greely’s 2012 production Tied to the Tracks features a cast of 35 and a crew of 33!
Don’t miss your chance to escape mud-season in Maine and travel to the Dakota territory in the 1880s, a world where good and evil are justly and often hilariously rewarded.

Performances: Thursday 3/22 and Friday 3/23 at 7:30 p.m. $5 and $6
and Saturday 3/24 as dinner theatre $12 and $15 (Reservations are required for dinner. greelydramaboosters.org)
