Spring Production 2011

Important Dates and Information for All Students
INFO Meeting: Cast & Crew 1/11/2011

Spring Play: Antigone by Jean Anouilh

Performance Dates: March 24, 25, 26, 2011
Thursday and Friday night shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday night is a dinner theatre performance (reservations required). Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. and the play follows dessert.

Next Meetings: Try to attend at least ONE of the following two meetings if you plan to audition. You need to understand the entire play in order to put your audition scene in context. Even if you have read Antigone (the Sophocles version), it will be helpful for you to read Anouilh to appreciate the differences. Plus, reading aloud is good for every actor (-:

#1 Friday January 14 We will read one version of the play aloud. Meet in room 152 at 2:30 for the reading. I will also have audition selections available for all students wishing to audition. Even if you cannot stay for the reading on Friday, please stop by my room to pick up the tryout materials.

#2 Thursday January 20 We will read another version of the play and I will answer questions about the characters, plot, themes, etc. Meet in room 152 at 12:30.

AUDITIONS: Monday January 24th from 2:45 to 5:30 on stage. There will be only one day of auditions. The Cast List will be posted on the door to room 152 Tuesday morning by 7:30 a.m.

CREW MEETING: Thursday January 27th 2:30-3

There will be a meeting to determine how many students are available and needed for the various backstage crews: set construction, costumes, painting, bios, make-up etc.
This meeting will be mandatory since there will most likely be more students who wish to work on the crews than we need. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. Preference will be given to students who have made a significant commitment to these crews in the past.

Stage Managers, plus lighting and sound crews will remain the same. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please check in with me for a copy of the script and new calendars.

Additional dates for crews will be available or determined at this meeting.

The first TECH DAY will be Saturday January 29 from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. ONLY as select group of set construction people and costumers will be needed on that date.

ALL STUDENTS WISHING TO SERVE AS WAIT STAFF AT THE DINNER THEATRE will have one preliminary meeting in March. I will also recruit ushers and ticket sales people from this group for the Thursday and Friday night performances.
